For a brief overview, Twitter serves as a benevolent tool for keeping track of your “models” and at the same time, provides the “followers” updated information of their happenings. In general, you will know of worthy information just by simply following on the links which people used in their postings.

On the other hand, Facebook is a social site wherein you can connect anyone, whether an old or a new friend. As you connect to people, you are also conveniently bequeathing yourself with the means to promote your site and your business.

LinkedIn meanwhile is deemed as a business networking website that offers the channel to promote yourself and be able to connect with business partners, experts, and suppliers. You may use such to throw questions and provide answers to anything about business.

Step One

It is advisable if you begin with Twitter since it is known to be the easiest to get started. All you have to do is to choose your username along with a password, and provide information about your location. After which, you fill in a short biography of yourself, as short as one sentence will do.

But remember not to invite friends yet, or connect with them. You may only do so provided that you have completed the three initial steps to get started with Twitter.

Step Two

Search at most six people whose lives and happenings you want to follow. These individuals serve as the “role models.” It will be best if you select from the same industry as yours. Six people for starters are enough to busy you. Once you get the hang of this whole thing, then you may add more, and a bit later on.

Following the happenings of these people will serve as your guide and learning tool to know more about social media. You will then be able to read these people’s tweets or Twitter messages, as well as follow the links they have posted and be able to observe how these people are handling and dealing with social media.

Step Three

After Twitter, you may now proceed to LinkedIn and Facebook. Both require only two steps to create your own profile. In addition, it is mandatory that you first verify the email address provided by clicking on a particular link that has been sent in your electronic mail.

Step Four

Once you already have your account on both LinkedIn and Facebook, you can always go into it and complete your profile. Just keep your cool as you do so. Take all the time in the world if you want. You may browse through the profile page and see what data are allowed.

Step Five

Now is the time to build your connections. You can now connect to people around you. You can even connect to the people you have been following around in Twitter. Invite them in your LinkedIn and Facebook accounts too.

But in completing your profile and biography, spend some time with it since your personal information will serve as your foundation in your partaking in social media.
